The Mekong travels through six countries: China, Myanmar, Thailand, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Vietnam and for the seventy million people who live in the Lower Mekong regionthe river is the source of all life.
It is a river that spans the glacial highlands of the Tibetan Plateauat an elevation of all the way down to the humid, tropical lowlands of Vietnam where it eventually empties into the South China Sea.
